Happy September and Welcome to our 2018-2019 Design Team!

Welcome back to The Card Concept!  We hope all of you had a great summer and we are so excited to be back with our bi-weekly challenges!

We will be starting our new challenge year tomorrow at 8 am EDT, but in the meantime,  wanted introduce you to our wonderful 2018-2019 Design Team!

Hello, my name is Tangii and I love Latte's and makin' pretty things!  I love stamping/paper crafting, coloring, quilting and decorating my home.  I live in my dream home in Southern Nevada with my amazing Hubby, my Favorite child (our blonde lab, Huck) and a sprinkling of my kiddos, lol (one lives with us full time, one is frequently away at College and one is most frequently here though her home is up the road, lol).  One of my newest loves is traveling with my Hubby, a hobby we've taken up now that the kiddo's are "grown"... and I #LoveThisLife

Hi Everyone!  I'm Vicki — a wife, mom and Mimi to 12 grandkids and 1 great grandchild as of May 2018.  I am also Puppy Mom to Holly Noelle and Reese Mackenna, my two little Yorkies.  My hubby and I have been married for 34 years. I started out as a scrapbooker and Creative Memories Consultant in 1997. I dabbled in cardmaking a tiny little bit until May of 2015. Once I started my blog, Twinkling Paper Studio, on August 1st of 2015, I was "All In". I give a lot of "how to" information on my blog so that you can try to recreate a similar project if you like. My style is usually Classic and Elegant and normally clean as well.  I hope I can inspire you in some way when you are creating.

Hi Everyone!  I’m Julie- I live in Maryland with my wonderful husband of 35+ years and our two beautiful "fur-babies".  I have been artistic all of my life and love creating cards, sewing, painting and recently, journaling!  Since I love to experiment, my style tends to be a bit eclectic. Hopefully I will inspire you to create a card and join us!

Hi! My name is Michele. I am a northern transplant to a sweet Southern town here in the deep South. My husband and I, along with our four feline fur babies live in steamy Alabama where we love Southern style barbecue and Crimson Tide football! I've been artsy all my life but started card making a few years ago and fell in love with this wonderful crafting community. I love working with layers of paper and color and am thrilled to join to be designing with The Card Concept!

Hi, My name is Kim and I'm from Connecticut, USA. I've been married for 36 years, have 2 wonderful daughters and the sweetest grandson in the world. I started playing with paper when my daughter made a scrapbook of her a trip to Europe and I wanted to try it. I quickly switched to card making and love to create cards for family and friends. I enjoy reading all avenues of social media related to crafting. When not in my craft space I like dining out, movies, home decorating and travel.

Hi! I'm Nancy Penir, and I'm overjoyed to be part of my favorite challenges, The Card Concept! Married, mom of 5, and grandmother of 11 darlings; 6 boys, 5 girls. I'd like to say my life's slowed down with an empty nest, but I've filled it with crafting! I love making cards, sewing, keeping up the garden, (we live on 2 1/2 acres), raising chickens, and watching it all grow! I've found the most wonderful community of talent and kindness through all of you. Nurturing our connection is my passion! Style? Making layers and patterns all work on a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2" canvas!

I am a St. Patrick's day baby from Beautiful British Columbia, Canada with a passion for card making. When I'm not in the studio, I'm a Grade One elementary teacher, happy wife to Tony, proud mom to Jake, and loving Grandmoe to Ashlynn and Beckham.  I am honoured to be part of The Card Concept DT and love designing primarily in a Shabby Chic style!

Hi there! My name is Susan. I live in a small town in Beautiful British Columbia, Canada with my husband of 25+ years and one of our daughters (who is getting ready to go off to University). Our other daughter left a few years ago and is almost finished her schooling. There aren't any craft stores where I live but thankfully there's the internet or I'd go crazy. My husband and my kids would tell you that's not a long trip - haha. By day I'm an Education Assistant in the town high school (we only have one) and by night I'm a stamper. I love all styles of cardmaking but usually find myself gravitating  towards the CAS style.

Hi all!  My name is Angel and I am from Louisiana but live just north of San Antonio, TX with my hubby of over 22 years and the two youngest of our three boys (19, 16, and 13). I started out as a scrapbooker way back in 1998 (decorative-edged scissors, anyone??), then slowly moved over to card making about 11 years ago.  I feel my style is mostly Clean And Simple (CAS) but every now and then I get a bit fancier ;)  I am thrilled to be part of The Card Concept Design Team!

Hello! My name is Mackie Robertson! I am so excited to be part of The Card Concept Challenge team!! Here is a little background about me. I have a very understanding husband, a grown son, a dog and cat. I am a retired Dental Hygienist, but I still work in my dental office as the dental hygiene practice manager. I went to my first Stampin' Up party about 10 years ago and I have been inky ever since! I love ALL styles of stamping...from CAS to Mixed Media. If I'm not in my craft room creating something, then I am on Pinterest or Blogland looking at other's creations for inspiration! I am currently on the design team for Paper Sweeties.  I just love it!  I started my blog to share my creations, and  to hopefully inspire others to join this wonderful art form! Happy Stamping!

I'm a fun-loving, dance party enthusiast living in rural Ontario that fills my time with creativity! My two children keep me busy with their interests and my husband and I enjoy geocaching with them. I'm an avid reader and lead the book club at our local library. My cardmaking style adapts to whatever mood I'm in. I range from feeling comfortable creating clean, bold designs with pops of colour and sparkle, to lots of layers and fussier designs. I enjoy creating felt flower creations and spray-painting and adding glitter to anything in our house the family will allow.

Hi, my name is Pam... I'm SunnyGirlScraps! A MN girl living in Smithfield, NC with my husband, Mike. Our son, Caleb, is 8 1/2 years old.  We have 2 Golden Retrievers & a senior kitty. I'm a 2-time cancer survivor! Living life is my passion... being a mom, creating & traveling. I love a fun summer road trip to MN with Caleb to spend time at the lake. I started Scrapbooking over 25 years ago then discovered Stampin' Up! and I've been making cards since 2009.  I'm also on the DT for Paper Craft Crew Challenges and participate in numerous creative blog hops. So excited to be here!

We hope that all of you will stop back tomorrow at 8 am EDT and
join us with our new challenge!!

The Card Concept #89 {Spring has Sprung}

Welcome to The Card Concept! Every two weeks we post our inspiration photo challenge and hope that you will join us and create a card for our challenge gallery.

Before we post our inspiration photo for this challenge, we would like to welcome two new designers to The Card Concept -
Robin Messenheimer and Pam Staples!!
We are so excited to have them join us!!

Robin Messenheimer

Aloha, my name is Robin Messenheimer, and I live with my husband, Harry, and dog, Hoku, in a gorgeous garden on the Big Island of Hawai'i. We have 5 grandchildren on the USA mainland, and get to see them only once or twice a year. In our rural part of Hawaii, there’s not much in the way of retail crafting shops. So I joined Stampin’ Up! as a demonstrator 10 years ago shortly after we moved here. My personal style tends toward Clean and Simple with lots of layers, and what you see from me will be 95% Stampin’ Up!

 Pam Staples

Julie Gearinger

Julie's Inspiration: I was inspired by the
blues and yellows as well as the stripes for
my Clean and Simple/Mixed Media card!

Kim's Inspiration: I was inspired by the fun
striped rug and the bold yellow of the
chair. Kept my card pretty much Clean and Simple.

Michele K. Henderson
Michele's Inspiration:  I had to feature a big
yellow chair in my sunny Clean and Simple Spring card!
Happy Spring!

Robin Messenheimer
Robin's Inspiration: The little blue bird on the desk,
followed by the overall yellow and white of the picture,
inspired my Clean and Simple Card.

Nancy Penir
Nancy's Inspiration: Yellow, aqua, birds and spring!
Pure joy inspired my Clean and Layered card.

Maureen's Inspiration: Bursts of colour against
a white background and those darling birds i
nspired this sort of Shabby Chic card.

Susan's Inspiration: I was inspired by the colors,
the flower on the chair and all that beautiful
white space for my Clean and Simple card.

Angel's taking a break for this challenge-
stop by her blog and say hi!

Mackie's Inspiration:  I was inspired by the festive
colors to create my Clean and Layered style card!

with the thought of being outside to enjoy the day
along with the colors for my Clean and Simple card.

Happy September and Welcome to our 2017-2018 Design Team!

Happy September and welcome back to The Card Concept!  We are so excited to start up our challenge season again tomorrow 09/06/17 at 8 am EDT!

Before we begin our new challenge season, we are sad to announce that Veroncia Zalis will be stepping down from the  Design Team.  Veronica is very active with her family as well as the Inspired By All The Little Things Challenge site so we know that we will see her lovely artwork there as well as on her blog.  We will miss her inspiration here at The Card Concept and wish her all the best!

We are thrilled to announce a newest member to our
Design Team, Ruth Andrews.

Hello! I'm Ruth, an exiled Scot living in England. I started card making in September 2014 when a craft shop opened in my town. I decided to start blogging to record my journey and it's all rather spiraled from there! I LOVE any kind of crafting and whilst card making is my main addiction at the moment, I've started sewing again and occasionally dabble in mixed media. I'm married to a very understanding man and am a SAHM to two little girls who won't stop growing and asking questions - crafting is my escape. Excited to join the Card Concept and to try out different styles!

Ruth will be starting with our new challenge tomorrow along with the rest of our 2017-2018 Design Team:

I've been crafting ever since I discovered how to attach glitter to paper! You'll frequently find me with ink all over my hands because I LOVE working with messy products - especially Ranger Distress products. I am the owner of Damsel of Distressed Cards in Grand Forks, ND and teach card making and mixed media art classes. I also design stamps for STAMPlorations. My card designs are very eclectic and my favorite way to create is by layering and incorporating mixed media.

Hi Everyone!  I'm Vicki — a wife, mom and Mimi to 12 grandkids.  I am also Puppy Mom to Holly Noelle and Reese Mackenna, my two little Yorkies.  My hubby and I have been married for more than 33 years. I love to sew, bake, scrapbook, quilt, cross stitch and making cards. I have a very supportive hubby and spend most of my free time in my Mickey Mouse themed craft room, I love everything Disney. Veronica Zalis
Hello! I am very excited to be joining The Card Concept design team! I have been a card maker for 14 years after being invited to a neighborhood stamp club. My style is usually Shabby Chic, but I enjoy mixing it up with different card styles as well. I am a SAHM of 3 children ages 9, 6, and 7 months. I love stamping and I love all of the friends I have made along the way!

We hope you will extend a warm welcome to our new designers- we know that we are so thrilled to have them on the team!!

Now, onto our CC#71 "Fresh Flutters" challenge.  Just a reminder, that The Card Concept inspiration photo challenge posts every two weeks.  Please feel free to use any of the styles we have defined to create your card (or use a combination of styles)- we want you to have fun with our inspiration!

Our design team members will also be selecting a style (or combination of styles) and will explain how they were inspired by the challenge.  We'd love for you to try your hand at a brand new style of card making or feel free to work in your comfort zone.  It is totally up to you!

The styles are explained HERE.

Now for the design team and their inspiration:

Becca's Inspiration: I loved the colors of the photo and the splash of white, which I brought into my design through a mixed media background created with Distress Oxides and Distress Spray Stains. Also - who doesn't love butterflies?!

Karen's Inspiration: The image is so beautiful as is, so my Freestyle card is my attempt to capture that.
Vicki's Inspiration - I was inspired by the gorgeous butterflies and the sort of dreamy look of the inspiration image. The gold embossed Vellum butterflies, shimmer mist, the glittered brads and sequins all add to the dreamy look for my Shabby Chic/Freestyle Collage card.

Julie's Inspiration- The beautiful soft colors, gorgeous butterflies and texture of the baby's breath inspired me to create my Shabby Chic/Mixed Media card.

Kim's Inspiration - I was inspired by the pretty white flowers and changed the butterflies to wee dragonflies for a delicate look for my Clean and Layered card.

Michele's Inspiration: I was really drawn to the texture of the flowers in the vase, and wanted something white and fluffy in my super CAS Clean and Layered card!

Nancy's Inspiration: The dreamy aqua jar, the white blooms and colored butterflies all influenced my take on the photo. Definitely the jar! Classy/Elegant with a bit of Mixed Media. (Inks & Embossing Paste)

Maureen's Inspiration: My Vintage/Shabby Chic card was inspired by
the colours and darling butterflies.

Susan's Inspiration - I was inspired by the butterflies in all the whitespace of the flowers to make this Clean and Simple card.

Angel's Inspiration - I was inspired by the butterflies and colors to make this
Clean and Simple card.

Mackie's Inspiration: I was inspired by the colors to make my Classy & Elegant style card.

Laurie's Inspiration: I was inspired by the butterflies for my Clean and Layered card.

Julee's Inspiration: My Mixed Media card was inspired by the dreamy feel, the butterfly colors and the white flowers.

Veronica's Inspiration- I was inspired by the soft colors and beautiful butterflies for my
Clean and Layered card.

Our Rules:

1.  Use the challenge inspiration to create a card.
2.  Use one of the challenge styles to create a card (or if you prefer, combine a few styles).
3.  Explain in a post which style or combination of styles you used.
4.  Link your post using our linky (please link to the actual post on your blog and not just your blog).
5.  Comment on the cards ahead of you and behind you in the linky.  Everyone loves comments!

This challenge will close on Monday, April 24th at 12:00 EDT.
