Challenge #15 - Colour Challenge

Welcome to The Card Concept.

Before we get to the challenge we have some news to share! This is our last challenge with the talented Lee Ann Barrett. She is leaving our team but we know she will be back, playing along with us! Thank you for all of your hard work, Lee Ann! You will be missed!

We also want to let you know how excited we were by all the submissions for our Wild Card team! WOW! We had MANY applications and could only choose 5! Thank you so much for applying and we hope you will apply again in October.

This week we have a colour theme for you to try! You must use the colours and create your card in one of the styles of the designers. The styles are explained HERE.

Clean & Simple

Deanna Dean

Add a little pop to your cards by gently curling the edges of your leaves and flowers.

Clean & Graphic

Ardyth Percy-Robb

Big blocks of colour  work as 'white' space and keep your card feeling clean and graphic!

Clean & Layering

Kay Miller

Those fresh colors reminded me of cool water and a warm breeze, perfect for my little sail boat.

Shabby Chic

Besides the colors of aqua, lime and white (swoon!), I was inspired by the lacey, floral pattern on the candle holders and created a little garden scene!

Freestyle Collage

Classy & Elegant

Lee Ann Barrett

Natural images seemed fitting for these colors and the lacy candle holders inspired me to use a doily
 and other 'lacy' images.

The Card Concept Design Team Call {Wild Card Design Team}

We are looking for a few designers to take on an important role within our challenge. We are creating a Wild Card team. This team will be designing in EACH of the styles. Mastery of each of the styles is NOT necessary...the willingness to "try" a new style and to stretch your abilities...and then to share your experience with our readers is the goal!

The Wild Card Team responsibilities are as follows:

  • Create 2 cards each month {3 in October}
  • Try each of the card making styles featured on The Card Concept-you will be creating a card in each of the styles according to a schedule set by Tracey and Lesley. By the end of your term you will have completed 6 cards-trying each style once.
  • Comment on the submissions of others.
  • Be a team player and have fun!
Other requirements:
  • You must be on FACEBOOK.
  • You must have a current blog.
  • Ability to take clear photos.
  • All styles and abilities are welcome.
  • All product is welcome.
  • No design team experience is necessary.
How to apply:
  • Please send an email addressed to Lesley with The Card Concept Wild Card Team in the subject line to thepaperplayers (at) yahoo (dot) ca
  • Please include photographs of three of your favourite cards-please try to show some variety of style.
  • Please explain why you would like to join the Wild Card team.
  • Please add a link to your blog so we can visit you!

Challenge #14 - Colour Challenge

Welcome to The Card Concept.

This week we have a theme for you to try! You must use the theme and create your card in one of the styles of the designers.

The styles are explained HERE.

Clean & Simple

My design was inspired by the three pillows which I translated into three hot air balloons.

Clean & Graphic

My design was inspired by the layered/cascading pillows on the bed. Don't you just love the "freshness" of this color combo?

Clean & Layering

I've always wanted to color this hippo aqua, and he popped into my head instantly when I saw this color combo. I couldn't resist!

Shabby Chic

First time I've used these pretty colours for a shabby card and I have to say I really love the elegance of this combo!

Freestyle Collage

Cathy Weber

There's lots of shapes and angled edges on this card!

Classy & Elegant

Colleen Dietrich

My eye went to the patterns of the blanket & the back pillow as my inspiration!
