The Card Concept #147 {Daring to Dream}

                               Welcome to The Card Concept!

For those of you who are new to our challenge, every two weeks we will post our inspiration photo challenge and hope that you will join us by creating a card for our challenge gallery.

Just a reminder, an inspiration photo is exactly that- a starting point for inspiration. Will it be the colors, the overall theme, the texture, the actual items and/or something else that will inspire your card?

Choose a design style (or combine styles), create a card, and in your blog post, let us know what inspired you from th
e photo, what style and/or styles you chose and don't forget to display our inspiration photo and link back to our challenge :-)

At the end of the challenge, our Design Team will choose one Main Winner and at least three Honorable Mentions.  We will announce the winners here on our challenge blog, as well as our Facebook page and our new Pinterest board.

Again, as we mentioned above, please feel free to use any of the styles we have defined or create your own with a combination of styles.  We want you to have fun with our inspiration!

So come and join us!  We'd love for you to try your hand at a brand new style of card making or feel free to work in your comfort zone.  It is totally up to you!

In case you missed the link above, the styles are explained HERE.

Now for our Design Team's inspiration:

create this layered Mixed Media card!

Julie's Inspiration: I was inspired by all of the
globes as well as the shades of brown to create a
Shabby and Vintage card!

little bit, inspired by the greenery, the muted grays, and
a different way to think about the Earth and our
dreams, in my Clean and Layered card.

Karen's Inspiration: I was inspired by the globes
and colors in the photo to make my
Clean and Layered Card.

and the masculine feel of the photo to create my
vintage-style Clean and Layered card.

Mackie will be taking a break for a while and

of luggage and books are what inspired me this week
for my Classy and Elegant card.

and books, the classic look, and the globes to create
 this Clean and Simple card.

Anita's Inspiration: Literally, the suitcases and the

we wanted introduce you to our wonderful 2021 Design Team!

We are excited to announce two new designers to our team, Karen Ksenzakovic and Kim Singdahlsen!

Welcome Karen and Kim!!

The Card Concept January- June 2021 Design Team

Hello, my name is Esther and I live in the beautiful state of Virginia. I've been making handmade cards since 2005.  My style has developed and changed over the years, with my current love being textures and layers.  I belong to a card ministry that sends happy mail to hurting people all over the USA, so I send them out about as fast as I can make them. I hope my work will inspire you to be creative in your own unique way - and to brighten someone's day with an encouraging note in their mailbox!

Hi Everyone!  I’m Julie- I live in Maryland with my wonderful husband of 38+ years and our beautiful "fur-baby", Victoria.  I have been artistic all of my life and love creating cards, sewing, pen and ink drawing, watercolor painting and recently, vintage junk journals!  Since I love to experiment, my style tends to be a bit eclectic. Hopefully I will inspire you to create a card and join us!
Hi! My name is Michele. I have traded winter snow for some year-long sandy beaches here on Florida's Atlantic coast! My husband and I, along with our feline fur babies have found a new home here in tropical Florida where we love the beautiful beaches and the year-round golf! I've been artsy all my life but started card making a few years ago and fell in love with this wonderful crafting community.  I love working with layers of paper and color and am thrilled to join to be designing with The Card Concept!

Hello stampers!  My name is Karen Ksenzakovic and I am so excited to be a part of this creative team.  I live in central New Jersey with my husband of 32 years, 2 adult children and my almost 13 year young lab mix.  I have a soccer coach son and a daughter who is in college for Forensic Chemistry.  I've worked in accounting for over 35 years and also work for a Dog Bakery Boutique for the past 3 years.  I love to cook & bake and I've always done some kind of crafting. I've sewed, crocheted, knitted, cross stitched and have been doing paper crafting for about 15yrs when I was introduced to Stampin' Up!  I decided to become a Stampin' Up! demonstrator 2 1/2 years ago and love it.  I love designing all styles of cards from clean and simple to collage and I've also done some scrap booking.  I love layering and especially love watercoloring and coloring with alcohol markers.

Hi! I'm Nancy Penir, and I'm overjoyed to be part of one of my favorite challenges, The Card Concept! Married, mom of 5, and grandmother of 11 darlings; 6 boys, 5 girls. I'd like to say my life's slowed down with an empty nest, but I've filled it with crafting! I love making cards, sewing, keeping up the garden, (we live on 2 1/2 acres), raising chickens, and watching it all grow! I've found the most wonderful community of talent and kindness through all of you. Nurturing our connection is my passion! Style? Making layers and patterns all work on a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2" canvas!

LeAnne Pugliese
Hi stampers!  I am excited to be a part of this creative team!  I have always enjoyed crafts of almost any sort, but I truly love stamping cards and mailing them to friends and family!  I discovered Stampin' Up in 1999, joined as a demo in 2002 and have been using ink, paper and stamps ever since!  I live in southeastern PA, have a patient husband, a wonderful daughter and son-in-law and a granddaughter that I am "training" to love crafts as well.  I would say I have an eclectic style, although I do love vintage as well as clean and simple!

Hello! My name is Mackie Robertson! I live in beautiful Charlotte, North Carolina.  My very understanding of my stamping addiction , husband and I have been married over 40 years. We have a grown son and lovely daughter-in-law. I am a retired Dental Hygienist. I went to my first  Stampin' Up party several years ago and I have been inky ever since! I love ALL styles of stamping...from CAS to Mixed Media. If I'm not in my craft room creating something, then I am on Pinterest or Blogland looking at other's creations for inspiration!  I started my blog to share my creations, and  to hopefully inspire others to join this wonderful art form! Happy Stamping!

Marcie Sharp
I'm a fun-loving, dance party enthusiast living in rural Ontario that fills my time with creativity! I'm an avid reader, love binge-watching tv shows while I work in my crafty corner, and enjoy hanging out with my husband and kids. I work on our property growing flowers for bouquets that I sell at a roadside stand. My cardmaking style adapts to whatever mood I'm in. I range from feeling comfortable creating clean, bold designs with pops of colour and sparkle, to lots of layers and fussier designs.

Hello! My name is Kim Singdahlsen and I live in Colorado with my husband and two cats. We have two college-aged sons - one is nearby, the other far away.  I fill my weekdays as an accountant for my local town government and weekends enjoying our Colorado mountains. Living in a household of men and spending my days with numbers and spreadsheets, is it any wonder that I love the world of cardmaking?! I am most comfortable in the Clean and Layered style - a fresh look but not necessarily simple!

Hi crafting friends! My name is Anita and I am so excited to be part of The Card Concept team. I am originally from Buffalo, NY but have lived for the last 12 years in Durham, North Carolina. I have been married to my best friend for 45 years, We have 3 daughters and 2 grandchildren. Through the years I have been a Decorative Painter, quilter and cross-stitcher. That love of color translates now into card making, paper crafting and for this year, 2021, more journaling. I enjoy mixed media with a somewhat clean and simple style. Let's see what we can create together!

Betty Wright
Hello, I am Betty. I am thrilled to design for The Card Concept Challenge. Inspiration Challenges are my favorite.  I live in North Carolina with my husband, Greg, and our two cats. I am a high school English teacher. I have two children. My daughter Erica is a nurse, and my son Dawson is in college. I feel I have always done some sort of crafting since I was a kid. However, I really started paper crafting when I was a stay at home mom. I started scrapbooking our memories which led to cardmaking.

We are looking forward to inspiring you to join us for our new 2021 session- stop back again tomorrow, Wednesday January 6th at 8 am EST for our first challenge!!
